Description
The romantic motifs "longing for peace", "farewell to the beloved" and "mystical experiences of nature" run like a red thread through the works on this recording.
With particular subtlety and subtle harmonic effects, Rheinberger brings the world of elves and mermaids to life.
Brahms' “O schone Nacht”, moonlit and serenaded by the song of the nightingale, serves as the backdrop for a suggested love adventure. And in the Notturnos of Herzogenberg, the dreamy world is completely lost in reverie.
The Orpheus Vokalensemble, under the direction of Michael Alber and with Antonii Baryshevskyi playing the piano, presents this genuinely romantic choral music on CARUS, whereby the Rheinberger-Werke are world premiere recordings.
The ensemble was founded in 2005 as a professional chamber choir of the Landesmusikakademie Baden-Württemberg. The choir has an international cast and places the highest demands on its members. Internationally renowned choral conductors are invited for the work phases. The aim of the artistic work is to transfer the principles of chamber music - personal commitment and mutual respect - to ensemble work with voices during the rehearsal and performance of musical works.
In addition, the choir members have a say in the choice of repertoire, soloists and conductors as well as in the concert programmes. Several composers have already written works for the Orpheus Vocal Ensemble.
