Description
Sopranos Ljubljana Jovanovic and Biljana Staffansson accompanied by Elena Atanasovska-Ivanovska perform works composed by member of the Sweden Royal Family.
In the 19th century, the importance
of musical life for the royal family
ruling in Sweden increased rapidly. All
thanks to King Charles XIV John, the first
monarch from the House of Bernadotte,
which still reigns at the Swedish court.
It is worth noting that many of its representatives
have shown numerous artistic
talents in terms of musical performance
as well as composition and theory
of music. Although officially, according
to the 19th-century etiquette, representatives
of the royal court could not
perform any functions related to musical
life, it did not stop them from making attempts at composing and organising
numerous concerts. The present album is a unique collection of representative
works created at the Swedish court in the 19th century.
