Description
The title Jolanta Smolska: Nowe kroki - Inkubacja (Jolanta Smolska: New Steps - Incubation) is the call sign of a musical statement and verbal legitimisation of the existence of 'here and now' as a decisive value.
"Incubation is an announcement of the creative process, from which subsequent pieces emerge as musical components. The album itself is a consequence of an idea that stemmed from my collaboration – as a composer – with great artists from Lodz: flautist Ewelina Zawislak, cellists Agnieszka Kolodziej and Malgorzata Smyczynska-Szulc, and pianist Agnieszka Przybylska. Together, we can feel satisfaction and hope for a fruitful addition to the contemporary Polish chamber music. The pieces making up the six-step whole are the result of my compositional work of the last two years. The performance binder is the oscillation between the diversity of the sound layers of three instruments that appear alternately, enclosed in the formula of a trio or duo. It is difficult to predict which of the proposals will inspire the listener the most at a given moment. Nevertheless, we were strongly motivated by the idea of reaching the recipient's emotions. Nowadays, it is this bond with the recipient of art, including musical art, that we need even more consistently than before. This CD is an attempt to construct an additional place that should be as friendly as possible to both the artist and the listener – the recipient of the artist's work. Thus, simply, a place for music." - Jolanta Smolska
