Description
A Nordic Christmas Tale is a Christmas album in the classic sense of the word, yet it is also a story. It is a cohesive musical journey that leads the listener from the dense darkness of a Nordic winter morning to the light and warmth of the Christmas celebration. At the same time, it is an inner journey through our memories and our ideas of what Christmas has meant to us -- and what it could be. BrassUnit has established itself as one of Europe's most forward-looking and promising brass quintets. They perform regularly at chamber music series and festivals across Europe while cultivating a strong artistic profile by commissioning and premiering new works for brass quintet--often in close collaboration with young Nordic composers. They recently won first prize in the brass quintet category at the Nordic Wind Festival in Oslo. They are joined on this recording by baritone Arvid Eriksson.
