Description
Thomas Pietsch exhibits his virtuosic violin skills in this new recording of the Telemann 12 Fantasias for Solo Violin, TWV 40:14-25. As a specialist on 17th and 18th century music, his extensive research leads to an incisive and personal interpretation.
Following the recording of his celebrated CD Sei Solo with Sonatas and Partitas by Bach, the Hamburg-based Baroque specialist recorded the 12 Fantasias in the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Aumühle in Hamburg in January 2017. This recording has once again enabled him to make a major contribution to Hamburg's long musical tradition and to the Hanseatic tradition of the 17th and 18th centuries.
Thomas Pietsch writes, 'Telemann had completely assimilated French taste and certainly knew how to employ a genteel style. His elegant style of writing illuminates the fantasias in a light, graceful, witty and whimsical way.'
