NEW MID-PRICE EDITION OF THE ACCLAIMED 2014 RELEASE

'Another masterclass in supercharged emotional songwriting and fearless sonic curiosity.'
    The Guardian (5/5)

Anathema have spent most of their career making music that defies description. Formed in the mid 90’s, they have risen to become one of the UK’s most cherished and critically acclaimed rock bands.

With their star rising ever higher, Anathema returned in 2014 with ‘Distant Satellites’. The new studio album showcased another imperious forward step into the realm of miraculous songwriting. It has proved to be the band’s most widely acclaimed & celebrated record with the likes of The Guardian (UK), Metal Hammer (UK / DE), Kerrang (UK), Classic Rock (UK/DE), Prog Magazine (UK), Aardschok (NL), Rock Hard (DE), Rolling Stone (Aus) heaping great praise on the album.

‘Distant Satellites’ was recorded at Cederberg Studios in Oslo with favoured producer Christer-André Cederberg. Alongside additional mixing by Grammy Nominated Steven Wilson, Anathema also brought in the legendary services of Dave Stewart (Porcupine Tree, Steven Wilson) to create the new album’s extraordinary orchestral arrangements.

‘Distant Satellites’ was one of the most celebrated and lauded albums of 2014 and will surely be recognised as their finest album to date. It is a gleaming anthology of beautifully crafted songs, performed with vitality, verve & utmost passion, once again demonstrating the sublime, instinctive song writing talents of the Cavanagh brothers and drummer John Douglas.

A remarkable album that confirms their flexibility and talent for making energetic, expressive, poignant music. Anathema are a special band, determined not to stagnate, and distant satellites is yet another divine release – Prog Magazine (UK)

    Description

ANATHEMA'S STUNNING 2014 ALBUM 'DISTANT SATELLITES' CELEBRATES 10TH ANNIVERSARY REISSUED ON KSCOPE ON DOUBLE 'SPARKLE' VINYL LP.
When Anathema's 10th studio album 'Distant Satellites' was originally released in 2014, the Liverpool-based six piece were, in many respects, at a peak in their career.

Following the success of 2012's 'Weather Systems'--widely acclaimed as one of the band's best works--& extensive global touring throughout 2012 & 2013, Anathema was brimming with vitality & artistic confidence. Very few predicted that 'Distant Satellites' would end up being the band's penultimate studio release--a fate that left scores of fans around the world devastated, but ultimately imbued the album with a sentimentality & nostalgia that only enhances the emotional weight of the songs within.

'Another masterclass in supercharged emotional songwriting & fearless sonic curiosity' 5/5 THE GUARDIAN

Anathema described 2014's 'Distant Satellites' as 'the culmination of everything we've been working up to so far in our musical path. It contains almost every conceivable element of the heartbeat of Anathema music that it is possible to have'. Certainly, 'Distant Satellites' is one of the finest examples of the band's singular, exalted sound. Recorded at Cederberg Studios in Oslo with favoured producer Christer-Andre Cederberg, the album was elevated even further with additional mixing by the Grammy-nominated Steven Wilson (Porcupine Tree) & extraordinary orchestral arrangements crafted by Dave Stewart (Porcupine Tree, Steven Wilson).

'Distant Satellites' was one of the most celebrated & lauded albums of 2014 with the likes of The Guardian (UK), Metal Hammer (UK / DE), Kerrang! (UK), Classic Rock (UK/DE), Prog Magazine (UK), Aardschok (NL), Rock Hard (DE) & Rolling Stone (Aus) heaping great praise on an album that many still recognise as Anathema's finest to date. 'Distant Satellites' is a gleaming anthology of beautifully crafted songs, performed with vitality, verve & utmost passion, once again demonstrating the sublime, instinctive songwriting talents of the Cavanagh brothers & drummer John Douglas.
