  • Description

Chicago vocalist Sacha Mullin opens a direct, pop-forward chapter with "Hypocenter," a propulsive art-pop single produced by William Parker Wood and featuring returning collaborator Emily Bindiger. The seven-inch pairs it with Mullin's interpretation of Alexz and Brendan Johnson's "Voodoo," recorded for the fifteenth anniversary of Alexz Johnson's album. "Voodoo" will not be available on streaming services.

Mullin's wide vocal range meets synths, piano, guitar, bass and electronic programming in a more immediate pop setting while retaining the detail and adventurous arrangements that have defined his work across art pop, experimental rock and jazz. Both tracks were produced, recorded and mixed by William Parker Wood at Superior Street in Chicago and mastered by Carl Saff.

Mullin's music has received attention from NPR, EARMILK, The Big Takeover, PROG and WBEZ's Vocalo. Chicago Reader readers named him Best Pop Artist and Best Music Teacher in 2024. His collaborations and performances include Bobby McFerrin, Cory Wong, Dessa, Sheila E. and Guerilla Toss.

Limited to 250 copies total across two colored-vinyl variants: Seafoam Green, and Teal & Black Swirl.
