Originally released in 1992 by Capitol Records 'The Crimson Idol', a concept album tells the story of the rise and fall of a fictional rock star named Jonathan Steel - a twisted tale of a suicidal rock & roll icon and the perils that come with fame.
Blackie Lawless recorded 'The Crimson Idol' with guitarist Bob Kulick and drummers Stet Howland and Frankie Banali and has been widely revered by fans as one of the band's greatest works giving W.A.S.P. their first U.S. radio hit single with 'Hold On To My Heart', charting in five countries in the Top 40 album charts and was voted one of the Top 20 conceptual albums of all-time by Metal Hammer magazine.
Blackie Lawless launched W.A.S.P. on the unsuspecting world in 1983 and before long tales of their outrageous music and intense stage shows became legendary and still are as the band continue to tour the world extensively.
