Memories, memories, memories! Funny how some things from the earliest years of your life stay with you forever. Television, providing most of today's entertainment for children, had very little to do with the memories evoked by the songs and stories contained on this disc. They come mostly from the cinema screen and from listening to the radio or, as it was better known in Britain, the wireless. For those lucky enough to own a gramophone, there were treasured records, all long since completely worn-out from continual playing. The BBC in London broadcast "Children's Hour" (although it was not always an hour long) from 1926 until 1961. In the USA there was "Coast To Coast On A Bus", also known as "The White Rabbit Line" (1927 - 1934), Dorothy Gordon with songs and folk tales (1936-1939), and "The Horn And Hardart Children's Hour" which ran from 1931 right through to 1957 with juvenile variety, to name but three programmes.
