Description
The Four Preps were arguably the most versatile vocal group of their era, comfortable in almost any format, be it folk, doo wop, R&R, pop, Tin Pan Alley standards and even comedic material. They recorded successfully in each of these styles, and in particular enjoyed enormous success with parodies, which became pretty much their stock in trade.
This compilation presents the Very Best of their singles' releases between 1956 and 1962, and includes thirteen US hits, of which eight were reportedly million-sellers: '26 Miles (Santa Catalina)', 'Big Man', 'Lazy Summer Night'/'Summertime Lies', 'Down By The Station', 'Got A Girl', 'More Money For You And Me' and 'The Big Draft'.
Also included are hits like 'Dreamy Eyes', 'Cinderella', 'Big Surprise', 'I Ain't Never' and 'Calcutta'.
This is by far the most comprehensive compilation of this body of work, while several of their early sides are difficult to find elsewhere on CD.
