Description
Although they'd formed back in the 1940s, and their close-harmony vocal style was heavily reminiscent of that era, The Chordettes enjoyed their biggest commercial successes in the 1950s, during the Rock & Roll era.
In all they registered sixteen U.S. hits between 1954-61, all for the Cadence label, a couple of which were million-sellers, the chart-topping 'Mr. Sandman' (1954) and the irrepressible 'Lollipop' (1958). They also registered international success with songs like 'Born To Be With You', 'Just Between You And Me', 'Zorro' and 'No Other Arms, No Other Lips'.
This compilation presents the very best of their releases during this period and features all their hits, alongside the pick of their B-sides and a handful of popular album cuts.
Surprisingly, perhaps, a handful of their early, non-hit 45s are nowadays sought-after collectors' rarities, and have never previously appeared on CD.
