Description
Supersister's long-lost debut album Lip Service finally receives its first ever physical release this August, arriving on super-limited silver vinyl and CD to celebrate its 25th anniversary.
Originally formed at the turn of the millennium, girl band Supersister quickly became cult favourites thanks to their infectious blend of disco-pop and Y2K attitude. Signed to Gut Records, the trio scored a UK Top 20 hit with "Coffee". Featuring the instantly recognisable lyric "I like my men like I like my coffee", the single's glamorous disco sound and tongue-in-cheek energy channelled classic icons like The Weather Girls and Gloria Gaynor for a new generation of pop fans. Supersister scored two further hits with "Shopping", and the glorious ballad "Summer Gonna Come Again".
Despite building a loyal fanbase and touring alongside some of the biggest pop acts of the era, their debut album was shelved before its intended release in 2001, becoming a highly sought-after record among pop fans and collectors. Now, 25 years later, Lip Service finally gets the release it always deserved. Packed with glittering pop hooks and high-camp energy, the record captures a moment when British pop was bold, playful and unapologetically fun.
The release follows the group reuniting last year with a return to the stage at Mighty Hoopla, introducing their catalogue to a whole new generation of fans. Lip Service is released August 7th on limited edition silver vinyl and CD while stocks last. The CD edition features 4 bonus tracks, including B-sides and unreleased songs.
