Description
Classic Belgian debut album from 2002 reissued and remastered. First time on vinyl Sukilove formed in 2001 as a quieter antidote to the loudness of Pascal Deweze's 90's band Metal Molly. With the help of a drummer living on the top floor in the same house (Stoffel Verlackt) and a stand up bass player who lives three houses to the right in the same street (Pieter Van Buyten), they suddenly turn into an acoustic live group called Sukilove. The group was temporarily completed by Carol Van Dyk of Bettie Serveert and they mutated into a group called 'Chitlin' Fooks'. Under this moniker, they record two full albums filled with 'dusty old folk and country music' and tour the U in 2001. March 2002 finally saw the release of the first Sukilove EP 'Talking in the Dark'. They quickly gained a deal with PIAS and went on to release 5 studio LP's and 3 EP's. The first Sukilove album was an introspective affair and lyrically tackles themes of loneliness and relationships with a sometimes optimistic outlook. Sukilove disbanded in 2013 but in reunited in 2024 for some warmly received reunion shows.
