Description
The debut album by the Schola Gregoriana Universitatis Musicalis Friderici Chopin conducted by Michal Slawecki: Misterium Christi - heri, hodie, semper... is a musical and theological illustration of the history of human redemption through Christ, conveyed through the liturgy - from prophetic announcements, through His birth in the flesh, Passion and death on the cross, to the descent of the Holy Spirit. The recorded works derive from liturgical and musical manuscripts preserved in the Archives of the Province of the Bernardine Fathers in Krakow and the Wroblewski Library of the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences in Vilnius. The melodic versions presented here reflect the Bernardine Gregorian chant tradition. In the recording, they were used as melodic variants, enabling the reconstruction of the pre-Tridentine musical tradition of the Franciscan Order, at least in the melic aspect. The resulting melodic and rhythmic shape is a historically grounded and scholarly reconstruction, rooted in authenticum fontium gregorianorum.
