Description
Jazzdor has supported trombonist Samuel Blaser's work for over a decade, from the creation of his duo with Marc Ducret to his trio with Peter Bruun, this double album sees him joined by pianist Russ Lossing, another of Blaser's accomplices for over ten years. These records, first as a duo and then as a trio with one of today's drumming veterans Billy Mintz, tell the story of a unique complicity.
The compositions of the two musicians involved in this recorded encounter unfold their cliche-free art in a happily uneven flow of original discourse.
The sound is full and free of frills. The band's powerful lyricism carries everything in its path away from conventional codes, yet everything flows from the source, their source, which lets its song develop without constraint.
Listening to them, it's impossible to stay on the sidelines. The small team takes us on board immediately, and together we dream of hoped-for territories, of spaces shared in total tranquility.
It's open, it's groovy, it's not expected... it's heard!
Roundabout duo: Samuel Blaser - trombone, Russ Lossing - piano.
