Description
When Frank Sinatra launched Reprise Records in 1961, his friends and cronies gradually signed for the label. Ratpack court jester Sammy Davis Jr. - widely acknowledged as the world's most talented all-round entertainer at that time - was among the first to arrive.
This compilation features his first four Reprise LPs, "The Wham Of Sam" (1961), "Sammy Davis Jr. Belts Out The Best Of Broadway" (1962), "The Sammy Davis Jr. All Star Spectacular" (1962) and "What Kind Of Fool Am I And Other Show-Stoppers" (1962).
Also included are his non-album singles from this same period, notably 'One More Time (A Tribute To Ray Charles)', 'Everybody Calls Me Joe', 'Me And My Shadow' (a duet with Frank Sinatra), 'Sam's Song' (with Dean Martin), and 'As Long As She Needs Me'.
This is the first time that this body of work has been thus compiled, while the bonus tracks are difficult to find elsewhere on CD.
