Description
Pianist Roosevelt Sykes was a true star of both the pre and post war eras of rhythm & blues and there's little disagreement that Sykes was one of the most influential and pioneering of urban blues piano players in the genre's history.
This collection from Jasmine looks at the recordings he made between 1950 and 1957 and represent the last tracks he made for blues and R&B market in America. Shortly after this period he became an international attraction and concentrated on LP releases for the rest of his career.
From the opening track "Drivin' Wheel" through to "She's Jail Bait" you'll be treated to his pounding piano boogies and risqué lyrics - all of which made Roosevelt so entertaining.
Includes fully detailed liner notes.
