Description
After 40 years of big beats, brassy blues and world-class musicianship, Roomful Of Blues is a beloved roots institution as vibrant and vital as the day it was formed by guitarist Duke Robillard and pianist Al Copley back in 1967. The Roomful brand has a prominence few bands in history can match, and their busy tour schedule and consistently satisfying recordings testify to a refusal to take their fans or their reputation for granted.
The present line-up is Dave Howard (vocals, harmonica), Chris Vachon (guitar, producer), Dima Gorodetsky (upright & electric bass), Ephraim Lowell (drums), Travis Colby (piano, B3), Rich Lataille (alto & tenor sax), Mark Earley (tenor & baritone sax), Bob Enos (trumpet).
This new album re-affirms the band's place in the pantheon of all-time great blues bands, with a wealth of dance-happy grooves, hot-to-trot horn arrangements and stinging guitar work fueling the band's swaggering blue, brisk swing workouts and primal rock and roll.
The record also boasts some Louisiana flavour, with the Gary U.S. Bonds R&B fave "New Orleans" and the Cajun classic "Big Mamou" getting the royal Roomful treatment.
