Description
A Polish Kaleidoscope is a recording series initiated and propagated by the excellent piano duo Ravel Piano Duo, that is Katarzyna Ewa Sokolowska and Agnieszka Kozlo, aimed at discovering the pages of forgotten Polish chamber music for piano duo. The presented album is the fourth instalment of the series. It features ten works representing the colourful and rich history of 19th-century Polish culture. The musical journey begins with the first Polish compositions for piano duo from the turn of the 19th century (Jozef Elsner, Antoni Weinert). It continues through outstanding works of early Polish Romanticism (Franciszek Lessel, Jan Ruckgaber) and the Chopin era (Julian Klemczynski, Napoleon Orda, Wojciech Sowinski). Our journey is crowned with works by artists immersed in the second half of the 19th century (Michal Bergson, Florian Miladowski). Seven of the pieces registered by Katarzyna Rakowiecka-Rojsza are recording premieres.
