Description
This new release from DUX contains twenty-six of the surviving thirty solo songs by Polish composer Ludomir Rózycki, written between 1905 and 1909. The repertoire derives from Rózycki's early works. During this time he was heavily involved in the problems of composers of young Poland pursuing the renewing the Polish music scene.
The recording includes songs from Opp. 9, 12, 14, 16, and 19, among which there are well-known and often performed works, such as the Nocturne, Op. 9 or the Watercolour [Akwarela], Op. 16. The focus of this recording, however is on the large majority of pieces here which rarely appear on the concert.
Almost all the songs recorded on this album were composed under the
influence of Rózycki's muse, and future wife – Stefania Mlawska, a talented singer herself. Their creation may also have been due to Rózycki's love for musical works inspired by literary texts. At the time it was also popular to use small forms that allow for expressing accumulated emotions in a suggestive way.
Performers on this recording: Rafal Majzner – Tenor; Mateusz Lasatowicz – Piano
