Description
This is the first ever recording of Paradise Lost by Krzysztof Penderecki, one of the greatest Polish composers. The bold staging of this monumental work, rarely seen on opera stages, is a religious mystery whose power of expression is emphasised by the great number of performers, rich stage design and choreography. Our attention is drawn to one of the most outstanding Polish singers, Joanna Freszel, in the role of the biblical Eve.
The three-hour performance is an amazing, reflective, fear-inspiring and delightful spiritual experience, the contents of which continue to be relevant and will not leave anyone indifferent.
"This is very welcome release and will do much to increase the understanding and appreciation of one of the composer's most significant works." – Gramophone
