  • Description

Tenor saxophonist Pat Crumly was born in Oxford, and spent a period with the John Dankworth orchestra before forming his own band, Edge, in 1978. His first album was 'Uneasy Peace', followed by 'Third World Sketches', 'Behind The Mask' and 'Flamingo' (the latter three issued on Spotlite).

Third World Sketches' is actually a set of six original musical sketches inspired by Crumly's travels in Africa and the Middle East as well as from an interest in ethnic music and culture. Written and recorded in 1984, all of the compositions on 'Third World Sketches' are Pat Crumly originals.

Personnel: Pat Crumly (alto and soprano saxophone, flute), Dick Pearce (trumpet, flugelhorn), Pete Saberton (piano), Dave Green (bass), Simon Morton (percussion), Trevor Tomkins (drums, percussion)
