  • Description

Pat Benatar, live from Reunion Arena, Dallas, TX 6th October 1981. In 1973, Pat Benatar quit her job as a bank teller to pursue a singing career after being inspired by a Liza Minnelli concert. She got a job as a singing waitress at a flapper-esque nightclub named "The Roaring Twenties" and got a gig singing in lounge band Coxon's Army. The band's bassist, Roger Capps, would go on to be the original bass player for the Pat Benatar band.

Benatar's 1979 debut and breakthrough album,In the Heat of the Night, was certified Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America in December 1980. Two singles from it were hits, "Heartbreaker" and "We Live for Love", the latter written by her lead guitarist and future husband, Neil Giraldo. Her follow up album Crimes of Passion, featuring her signature song "Hit Me With Your Best Shot" sold more than one million copies. Along with the controversial song "Hell Is for Children" gave Benatar the reputation for singing about "tough" subject matters and won her first Grammy for Best Female Rock Vocal Performance".

This stunning performance from The Reunion Arena, Dallas TX, 6th October 1981, broadcast on The King Biscuit Flower Hour, features hits from her first two albums and showcases just why she eventually went onto win 2 Grammy Awards... Enjoy!
