Description
Learning from her days with Chess Records and with her powerful soul-gospel voice Pastor Mitty brings it all to her new release "I Owe It All To The Word"
Pastor Mitty began her career singing in church and as a part of the Hayes Ensemble and the Lloyd Reese Singers. After being discovered by Ralph Bass, scout for Chess records, Mitty was signed to the label in 1960.
Mitty was best at singing ballads like "I Had a Talk with My Man," a 1964 Chess single and "Sharing You," a Top Ten R&B hit single.
Mitty recorded for Chess from 1960-1968, during this time she was also signed to Peachtree Records of Atlanta, GA and released her first charting single in 1963 "I'm Your Part Time Love," an answer to Little Johnny Taylor's "Part Time Love". By 1968, Mitty left the Chess imprint but kept recording for the Peachtree label from 1969-1972. In 1972, Collier left R&B music altogether and began singing and recording gospel music.
