Description
"An impressive meeting of Texas veterans who were active in the 1950s. They’re joined by two Austin favorites: Gene Taylor (piano) and the great Mike Keller (guitar), who just joined ranks with Marcia Ball’s touring band. This swinging outfit hits the nail squarely on the head, delivering a powerful set of gut-bucket blues that are nicely accompanied by sax and piano. Standouts include sax player Spot Barnett, who used to record with Bobby “Blue” Bland and Ike & Tina Turner in the 1970s, and pianist Big Walter Price (Gatemouth Brown’s roommate), who plays some beautiful piano on this recording." - The Daily Texan
Other alternating players are Jr Moore, Oscar O'Bear, Leo Morris (guitars), Bubba Mitchell, Vernon Moore (basses), Willie Sampson (drums).
