Norwegian composer Knut Vaage invites listeners on a unique musical journey with his release "multiMORF," performed by NyNorsk Messingkvintett and Thorolf Thuestad. This innovative work explores the boundaries between acoustic and electronic music, challenging traditional notions of the brass ensemble's potential. Knut Vaage, known for his groundbreaking approach to composition, takes us on an exciting voyage through the soundscape with "multiMORF." By combining classical brass instruments with electronic sound effects and distortions, Vaage creates a unique sonic universe that both challenges and delights listeners. NyNorsk Messingkvintett, composed of some of Norway's finest brass musicians, delivers an exceptional performance of Vaage's complex composition. Ingebjorg Bruket (trombone) is the soloist in multiMORF V, Erlend Aagaard-Nilsen (trumpet) in multiMORF VI, and in multiMORF VII, Marie Solum Gran (horn), Jorgen Arnesen (trumpet), and Berger Iver Faerder (tuba) each have solo parts in turn. Thorolf Thuestad, a renowned sound designer and electronic musician, contributes his expertise and creativity in electronic sound processing to the release. His innovative approach to sound design adds an extra layer of depth and atmosphere to Vaage's already complex composition. The multiMORF series has been developed over many years of collaboration between Vaage and Thuestad. In the three works on this album, written specifically for the musicians of NyNorsk Brass Quintet, the refined interplay between electronics and acoustic instruments reaches new heights. This is a release that will attract both fans of modern classical music and those seeking innovative sound experiences.
