Description
What a brutal monster coming out of Germany! A beast of a record - aggressive, razor-sharp, teetering on the edge of overdrive excess!. But let's start at the beginning - No Shelter seemed to be a band only I hadn't heard of. At least, that's how it felt when I asked Professor Hagemann for his thoughts on these five guys from Emsdetten. He looked at me in disbelief and asked if I had seriously never even seen them live. It was as if the beer metal god himself had already stamped his seal of approval on No Shelter years ago. So, one thing was clear: this couldn't possibly go wrong.
And sure enough, "Remission/Resolve" delivers on all fronts, following Rest In Death (2020) and Erasing Life (2022). If you have a soft spot for bands like Trap Them, Nails, or Entombed, you'll be grinning ear to ear.
Recorded at Tonmeisterei, No Shelter hammer down in 12 relentless acts, pounding away at your nerve endings with a sledgehammer. Their sound embraces a wide range of modern extreme music--slow, crushingly destructive, pummeling, raging, and tearing through with D-beat fury. This is a deep bow to late-'80s/early-'90s Swedish death metal, a hymn to the HM-2 distortion pedal, which shook an entire generation of young death metal fans to the core.
