Description
Nat Gonella was undoubtedly Britain's first great jazz trumpeter. This superb collection produced by Chris Ellis sees Gornella at his most carefree when he was working his way up to the status of bandleader. The high spots of this album include his first ever recorded sides with Billy Cotton "New Tiger Rag" and "Bessie" and the jaunty "Stormy Weather" with American Garland Wilson. There is a host more rarities and classics on this recording including the original "Georgia" and "Oh Mo'nah" from 1932 and 1931 respectively. A stunning collection of rarities and classics from the first great British jazz trumpeter. -
