Description
This is an album of songs written and sung by Glen Phillips (ex-Toad The Wet Sprocket) with accompaniment and other vocals by Sara Watkins, Sean Watkins and Chris Thile, the trio otherwise known as Nickel Creek. Phillips and Nickel Creek met and became firm friends in 2000. The following year Phillips appeared on Sean Watkins' first solo album, the group played selected dates with him and they got together for this 11-track session, rehearsed, recorded and mixed in just six days with producer Ethan Johns.
Says Phillip, "We just set up in my garage and did it live. Richard Causon joined us on keyboards and Jen Condos played bass. We just played into the room, no headphones or anything. The lead vocals and solos were all live on the floor. Ethan overdubbed some percussion and electric guitars on one song, but that was about it. It was very natural and spontaneous."
