On her fourth album, 'Excellent Day', Lizanne Knott returns to her folk-blues roots, weaving the heart of the Mississippi Delta, the soul of New Orleans, the spirit of modern folk and the emotionality of vintage Nashville into an inspired and instantly memorable musical blend.
Knott's career has seen her share the stage with icons like Joan Osbourne and Jimmy Webb and appear on some of the most high profile festivals in the US, UK and Spain. She's been frequently featured on the BBC and become a mainstay on the acoustic side of AAA radio in the US; her music has appeared in independent films, TV, documentaries and been used by national non-profit organizations.
Although 'Excellent Day' is only her fourth full length release, Knott's been a presence in the music scene for almost two decades. Her albums all are built on a core of strong songwriting, but her musical sensibilities continue to evolve so that each release brings something new and expands her melodic universe.
Across Excellent Day's 12 tracks, Knott's sumptuous vocals and crystal clear guitar are embellished by horns, pedal steel, organ and more to create a sound that's as intimate and personal as it is grand and lush. -
