Description
Soy Frankelda (Banda Sonora de la Pelicula) is the soundtrack of the first stop-motion feature film ever made in Mexico. Composed by Kevin Smithers, with song lyrics by Kevin Smithers, Arturo Ambriz and Roy Ambriz, Soy Frankelda recently won the People's Choice Award at the prestigious World Soundtrack Awards in Ghent, Belgium.
Featuring both original songs and score, this diverse soundtrack ranges from cinematic orchestral pieces to moving vocal performances. The film and accompanying songs and score have already established a cult following in Mexico, with an exhibition about the motion picture at the Cineteca Nacional in Mexico City becoming the second most visited exhibition since the Gallery's opening.
It's available on LP and CD - the stunning vinyl package includes blue coloured vinyl and an exlusive, limited-edition piece of artwork, whilst the CD package features four exclusive instrumental tracks. The score is an international achievement that truly exemplifies the passion and dedication of the entire production team. It features an orchestra recorded in Budapest, a choir recorded in Mexico City, and a theremin virtuoso recorded in Mexico, while the music was mixed in Los Angeles by Grammy-winning mixing engineer Alvin Wee.
A multi-award-winning composer, Kevin Smithers was born in Mexico City, where he studied at the Fermatta Music Academy before moving to London to earn a degree at the London Centre of Contemporary Music. From here, Kevin was offered a scholarship to study a master's degree at Berklee, at their campus in Valencia, Spain.
Kevin now resides in Los Angeles, California, where he continues to develop his own voice in the world of film, TV and video game music. His work has been featured on networks such as HBO, Comedy Central, MTV, Bravo, Discovery and CNN, among others.
