Description
British pianist Keith Ingham first made his name in the UK in the 1960s and 70s working with trad-to-mainstream groups led by such local luminaries as Sandy Brown, Wally Fawkes and Bruce Turner. At the same time he was working with visiting American musicians like Red Allen, Pee Wee Russell, Bud Freeman and Susannah McCorkle. And, it was at their suggestion that in 1977 he moved to the States where he soon matured as an impressive solo performer and accompanist.
Playing solo, in duo and as a trio on different tracks, this recording is programmed to simulate a jazz club session, and all the pieces have their own rewards, notably in the creative brio and harmonic authority of Ingham's keyboard performances. The Penguin Guide To Jazz On CD sums him up as "a player of unflinching finesse, taste and skill" and this disc proves how right they are.
Personnel: Keith Ingham (piano), Jim Richardson (bass), Bobby Worth (drums)
