Description
Katarzyna Brochocka's third album, features premiere recordings of her selected works written from 2008 to 2023. Released by CD Accord, the album showcases a diverse range of compositions, including sacred and secular, solo and chamber, vocal and instrumental pieces. Such a diverse repertoire constitutes only a part of Brochocka's extensive oeuvre, which is receiving increasing recognition. With a wide variety of musical forms and conventions, Brochocka demonstrates her maturity and versatility as an artist with a unique musical language. Leitmotif of the album is that of the unquiet heart. The music is an artistic reinterpretation of this symbol, with reference to both ancient religious tradition and modern laic poetry. Notably, many of the recorded pieces on the album have biblical associations, reflecting the growing importance of this thematic aspect in the composer's recent output. Album includes: two Psalms for low voice and double bass, String Quintet, Chamber Music: songs on poems by James Joyce for mezzosoprano, harp and double bass, Servant Songs for piano, and Soliloquia for solo double bass.
