Description
Although essentially a Bluegrass singer, Johnny Duncan, from Windrup, Tennessee, became an unlikely UK Skiffle star in the summer of 1957 with the million-selling 'Last Train To San Fernando'.
He also made the UK charts with follow-ups 'Blue Blue Heartache' and 'Footprints In The Snow', while sides like 'If You Love Me 8200;Baby', 'Itching For My Baby' and 'All Of The Monkeys Ain't In The Zoo' generated substantial radio airplay.
This compilation presents the very best of Duncan's releases between 1956-62, drawn from his singles, EPs and LP releases.
It kicks off with a pair of sides he recorded with the Chris Barber band, prior to his solo career, and closes with a handful of early 60s sides he cut for Pye Records, which are notoriously hard to find on CD.
This is the first Johnny Duncan compilation to draw together the separate elements of his recording career.
