Description
Johannes Enders, one of the most important European voices on the tenor saxophone, pays tribute to the "saxophone Colossus" Sonny Rollins, one of the last living icons of modern jazz, and a role model for countless generations of saxophonists.
Joining him is prolific Munich bassist Henning Sieverts and Spanish drum legend Jorge Rossy (Brad Mehldau, Joshua Redman, Chick Corea, Mark Turner and many more).
"There are four attributes of Sonny Rollins' playing that have consistently touched me over his extended period of extraordinary Jazz performance. Humor, Intelligence, Spontaneity and an undeniable command of the instrument. As I listened to these tracks a few times, that Rollins connection to Johannes' playing was confirmed, on ALL 4 attributes.
With repeated listenings of this material, saxophonist/composer Johannes Enders has only confirmed what I have known for the past 25 years. He is a committed, dedicated, and consistent virtuoso, who constantly moves music forward, irrespective of style or genre. I wholeheartedly endorse this recording for everyone, with absolutely no hesitation. Please listen to Johannes...and HEAR him." - T.Howard Curtis III
