Description
The first ever CD collection featuring Jo Ann Greer, one of the most talented and distinctive vocalists of the 1950s, who toured with the Les Brown Orchestra for more than 30 years.
28 recordings, most on CD for the first time, including early singles with orchestral backing by: Dave Barbour; Jerry Gray; Dick Stabile and Ray Anthony, with whom she had the hits "Wild Horses" and "The Hokey Pokey", as well as 11 great tracks with Les Brown's Band of Renown featuring superb renditions of "The Man That Got Away", "He Needs Me" (from Pete Kelly's Blues), "Liberace's "Sincerely Yours", Irving Berlin's "Sittin' in the Sun" and the Arlen-Mercer song "Hit the Road to Dreamland".
Through her career Jo Ann Greer enabled many movie legends to sparkle musically on screen including Rita Hayworth, who despite her talent was unable to hold a note. This is a little treasure trove of rare and great performances from someone who sadly was "Hollywood's secret singing star".
