Description
When 'GENTLEMAN' JIM REEVES died in July 1964 he was at the peak of his popularity, with forty-six C&W hits, including six #1s, under his belt. He'd also been crossing over to the US Top 100 regularly since the late 50's, and was the first Country singer to enjoy mainstream Pop Star status internationally, in Europe, The UK, South Africa, Australia and The West Indies.
Reeves went on to sell even more records posthumously, as a result of a carefully-orchestrated reissue programme by RCA-Victor, and he continued registering hits throughout the 60s and 70s. This compilation features all his US and UK chart records between 1953-62, alongside a dozen or so album tracks which became posthumous hit 45s, plus other popular flips, LP and EP sides.
Includes the million-sellers 'Mexican Joe', 'Bimbo', 'Four Walls', 'Blue Boy', 'Billy Bayou', 'He'll Have To Go', 'Adios Amigo', 'Welcome To My World' and 'I 8200;Won't Forget You'. This is the first Jim Reeves compilation to collate all his hit singles together in this fashion.
