Released in 2003, 'Rupi's Dance' marked Ian Anderson's eagerly anticipated follow-up to 'The Secret Language Of Birds', expanding upon the intimate, eclectic style of its predecessor while embracing a broader & more contemporary musical palette.Named after Anderson's Bengal cat, Rupi, the album is filled with wit, warmth & sharply observed storytelling, weaving together folk, rock, jazz, classical & world music influences into a uniquely atmospheric collection. Anderson's unmistakable flute melodies & expressive vocal performances lead the journey through vivid character sketches & reflective narratives, from the elegant title track & the playful "A Raft Of Penguins" to the poignant beauty of "Pigeon Flying Over Berlin Zoo."
Musically adventurous yet deeply personal, 'Rupi's Dance' captures Anderson in a particularly creative period, balancing sophisticated arrangements with an inviting sense of spontaneity & charm.
