Description
This double CD features two live radio broadcasts from Herbie Hancock, recorded some two years apart. The first features members of the classic early Headhunters line-up, burning through some great jazz-funk, a lot of the broadcast featuring material from "Manchild" released that year. The timeless "Watermelon Man" is given the Headhunters treatment is also present here for your listening pleasure.
The second disc carries on the theme, this time with Jaco Pastorius in the bass chair alongside James Levi in an ultra-tight rhythm section. Lead work is taken on by Hancock and the ever-present Headhunter, Bennie Maupin. The set starts with a powerful version of "Chameleon" and climbs upwards from there.
A great double set showcasing Hancock's pioneering jazz-funk sound of the mid-seventies.
