Description
'Heights make gorgeous, intricate, even delicate, vaguely groove-based music, and frankly it's not heavy at all. But who cares? It's really good' – Metal Sucks
Featuring TesseracT drummer Jamie Postones, guitarist & composer Al Heslop and bassist John Hopkin, HEIGHTS combine elements of prog rock, post rock, jazz and classical composition in order to weave intricate nuances through textured soundscapes with a wonderful air of simplicity.
Heslop's grand compositional vision combined with Hopkins' finesse and Postones' natural groove becomes a luscious flow of sound that is both beautiful and deeply detailed.
Recorded and produced by Heslop at Creative Control Studios, 'Phantasia...' is a full and majestic record but also simple and raw; every pluck, slide and ghost note is crystal clear, as if you're sitting in the rehearsal room with the band.
Their third record to date, 'Phantasia On The High Processions Of Sun, Moon And Countless Stars Above' is HEIGHTS' most adventurous effort yet, as Heslop explains:
"The new album is a culmination of four years work. This, to us, is more ambitious in terms of songwriting scope and we think the pieces sound more cohesive overall. We've steadily increased our confidence in pushing our playing abilities further and really pushing the 3 piece line up to utilise each aspect to the full, for example some main melodies are more bass driven, with bass taking centre stage and guitars accompanying."
