Description
Demon Records is delighted to partner with New York pioneers Fischerspooner on a series of reissues, beginning with a hot pink vinyl edition of the album that started it all: #1.
Fischerspooner began in 1998 as a New York art project - an artist statement, a cast of dancers, costumes, special effects and a plan to see how far spectacle and artifice could go. #1 was reviewed in the Village Voice as art before it was reviewed anywhere as pop, then went on to become one of the defining records of its era.
#1 includes "Emerge" one of the most important synth tracks of the new millennium - 28M streams on Spotify alone — but there's much more here: a Wire cover, ambient detours, wit, sensuality, and a fixation on identity and image that reads very differently in the social media age.
Unavailable on vinyl since 2003, original copies now change hands for serious money.
