  • Description

First time reissue of this rare album by Guadeloupean singer-songwriter, percussionist and trumpet player Edmony Krater. West Indies spiritual jazz fusion, a mix of Gwo ka, jazz, soul and funk. The first album of the "Antilles Series" by Heavenly Sweetness, it also includes two unreleased bonus tracks.

A native of Guadeloupe, Edmony Krater grow up with the sound of Gwo Ka (a traditional form of Guadeloupean percussion). Young trumpeter, Edmony founded with friends the group Gwakasonne in the late 70s, which was mixing gwo ka tradition and modern music (jazz, soul, spiritual). Then Edmony settled in France where he played with many Caribbean musicians, plus Bernard Lubat and Nougaro.

In 1988, he recorded the album 'Tijan Pou Velo', which is a tribute to the musicians of "roots" music, whose percussionist Tijan disappeared some years earlier. This cult album is characterised by its coherence, originality and modernity. This is the first time it has been reissued and the title "Gwadeloup", was included on Heavenly Sweetness' successful 2015 compilation 'Kouté Jazz'.
