Description
Daegu Skate punk trio Drinking Boys and Girls Choir's second album 'Marriage License' was
written and recorded under the stress of a pandemic but also a tidal shift in Korea. This is a little more grown up, less playful second album than their 18 track debut (Keep Drinking). Their politics are fiercer, echoing the rising up of women & LGBTQ+ communities in Korea. They reflect on their outrage at the Nth Room Case and the hidden camera epidemic. There is wider questioning of gender roles and the patriarchy as old views and assumptions are called out and tossed in the bin. Their rough and tumble skate punk sound has become more expansive. MJ's drums are just as fast and heavy, Meena's tweaked her bass tones, and guitarist Myorori's metal-classic rock-tinged guitar stylings provide more polished solos to this latest production.
'Marriage License' reflects a band who don't feel it's a time to mess about. They have honed their chops and know their targets.
Featured on 'Best Punk of 2021' lists in SPIN and Paste Magazine
Pressed on solid yellow colour vinyl
