From the age of five years old, Don Rigsby was transfixed by the music of Dr. Ralph Stanley. On his sixth birthday, Rigsby met his idol before a concert. This moment would set the course of the rest of Rigsby's life as he pursued a career as a bluegrass musician. For his third Rebel release, Don Rigsby chose to pay homage to Stanley. "I wanted people to see my roots for what they are," says Rigsby about his decision to make a tribute album. "I wanted the world to know that Ralph's music is what makes me tick."
This fantastic record boasts exciting guest appearances from musicians such as Ralph Stanley himself, Ricky Skaggs, Larry Sparks, Charlie Sizemore, and Steve Sparkman. With the exception of the lead-off track, Doctor's Orders is made up of songs recorded by Stanley, ranging from beloved classics to rare gems.
