  • Description

For his debut album, 20-year-old violinist Daniil Bulayev delves into the profound connections between three legendary violinist-composers: Eugene Ysaye, Ernest Bloch, and George Enescu. The recording takes listeners on a journey through life, death, and the soul's inner reflections, featuring deeply evocative works shaped by personal experiences and intense emotion. "Each piece on this album holds great significance for me," Bulayev explains. "Bloch's Baal Shem, dedicated to his late mother, resonates deeply with me, as I recorded it two years after my father's passing. Ysaye's Poeme elegiaque reflects the melancholy I experienced during that time. Enescu composed his vibrant Octet at 19, the same age I was when I recorded it, and it brings a sense of renewal and philosophical contemplation." The album concludes with Enescu's Aubade, an encore that offers a serene and reflective close, balancing the emotional intensity of the earlier compositions. This recording is a testament to Bulayev's remarkable ability to interpret personal and philosophical themes with sensitivity and brilliance -- a talent that earned him first prize at the 2021 Windsor Festival International String Competition, of which this album is a part of his winner's package. Joined by pianist Maxim Tanichev and soloists from the Davinspiro Camerata Chamber Orchestra, which Bulayev founded in 2022, the performances show a deep reverence for these works and a fresh, reflective approach.
