Description
"Some of the most exciting trad musicians to emerge in recent years." (BBC Radio England). Dallahan is one of the most distinct forces in the international folk music scene. Forged in Scotland's traditional music community, but drawing on the traditional music styles of the Balkans and North America, they create an original and seamless musical montage, blending their contemporary influences from jazz, funk, and pop music. Dallahan aims to take their listeners on a journey, traversing styles and countries of the world in a dazzling live show, creating their own unique brand of World-folk delivered with stunning virtuosity.
Since the bands formation six years ago, they have toured extensively in Europe, North America and even represented Britain at the bicentenary British/Nepalese celebrations in Kathmandu and have enjoyed such varied on-stage collaborations as with The Royal Scottish National Orchestra, Dougie Maclean, and Nepal's traditonal music exponents Kutumba. Their first two albums were both nominated for Album of The Year at the Scots Trad Music Awards in 2015 and 2016 respectively and they were awarded Instrumental Track of the Year at the Live Ireland Awards 2016 (USA).
March 2019 sees the release of the bands third album, 'Smallworld'; with songs that explore themes ranging from unrequited love, famine, racial inequality and big birds while instrumentals transcend from traditional Irish tunes to Roma Gypsy melodies to genre-defying originals. Dallahan, who have been described as "a world music festival in one group" will be touring the UK and Europe in support of the album's launch.
