Description
The latest CD album in the 'Concerts Frozen in Time' series is a recording of a concert held during the 15th Chopin and His Europe Festival in Warsaw’s Church of the Holy Cross, in the presence of the heart of Chopin.
Two combined ensembles, Collegium 1704 and Collegium Vocale 1704, conducted by Vaclav Luks, presented two very special sacred works: Luigi Cherubini’s Requiem in C minor for mixed choir and orchestra, first performed in Paris on an anniversary of the death of King Louis XVI in 1816, and Karol Krupinski’s Te Deum composed for the solemnity of coronation of Tsar Nicholas I the King of Poland, which premiered under the composer in front of tsar in Warsaw in 1829.
Beautiful yet rarely performed works from the time of Chopin in consummate interpretation of musicians specialising in historically informed performance.
