Many of us have experienced one of our 60s musical heroes croaking dismally through their greatest hits, but anyone disappointed at the decline of one of their favorites should check out a gig by Chris Farlowe. One of the most soulful singers of the era and best known for his classic version of Jagger-Richards' 'Out Of Time', Farlowe is still performing magnificently as this splendid live set recorded in March 2006 at the Crossroads Festival, Bonn, proves beyond any shadow of a doubt. These days Farlowe mainly uses The Norman Beaker Band as accompanists, because as well as being a great band and a great laugh they are all, like Farlowe himself, non-smokers. Norman Beaker accompanies Farlowe on guitar throughout on this live set from 2006 that finds both Farlowe and the band John Price (bass), Dave Baldwin (keyboards), Damian Hand (sax), Paul Burgess (drums) and Nikolay Arutyunov (on guest vocals) on blistering form with Farlowe himself displaying all the poise, charm and class that originally built his reputation.
