Description
As a young child Catrin enjoyed all aspects of music, and loved performing and playing the piano. When she was five years old, her parents arranged for her to see the Spanish harpist Marisa Robles perform at a local concert. It made a big impression on her and stayed with her until this day. At the age of six, her parents rented a harp for £30 a month. By the age of eight, she started studying with the world-famous harpist Elinor Bennett - who is now her mother in law!. Since then Catrin has never looked back and is now a world renowned harpist.
She has also been Royal Harpist to Prince Charles following a solo recital at the Harp's Concerto by Gliere with Purcell School's Orchestra at Prince Charles' 50th Birthday celebrations. Having a Private Harpist has been an old Royal tradition, and the last to hold the title before Catrin was John Thomas from Wales.
HRH Prince Charles wanted to re-live the tradition and craft of playing the harp by giving the youth of Wales the chance to promote Welsh music. Catrin has given many recitals at Highrove, Sandringham, Buckingham Palace.
