The 20th anniversary edition of the Musica Sacromontana series once again opens the musical archives of the Oratorian sanctuary on Swieta Gora in Gostyn, revealing the extraordinary richness of Wielkopolska's forgotten musical heritage. Two Litanies by composers associated with Swieta Gora, written almost forty years apart, offer a fascinating portrait of the evolution of the Classical style, where the traditions of Viennese Classicism meet distinctive Polish musical influences. From Zeidler's lucid contrasts to Wanski's virtuoso and dramatic writing, the works reveal two compelling facets of late 18th- and early 19th-century sacred music. Capella Musica Gnesnensis, joined by an outstanding cast of soloists, brings these rediscovered masterpieces to life with vivid, expressive performances that illuminate both their historical significance and their enduring artistic vitality. The principal testimony to the eighteenth-century musical culture of Wielkopolska is the music documentation left by the vocal and instrumental ensembles active at cathedrals, collegiate churches, parishes, and monasteries (Swieta Gora - the Oratory of Saint Philip Neri). These sources allow us to reconstruct the repertoire of the period, in which works by native composers coexisted with a rich body of foreign music. Of these centres, only the sanctuary at Swieta Gora has preserved sheet music from that time. Among their composers, Jozef Zeidler (1744-1806) and Jan Wanski (1756-1809), whose works are recorded on this album, played a key role.
